Profile

Dr. Sajal Saha has 18 years of academic experience working both in the affiliated college and university system. Currently he is the Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Director-Product & Innovation of Adamas University. Prior to this, he was the Principal of Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology under Techno India Group affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, Westbengal. From 2019 to 2021, he served as Dean of the School of Computing Sciences and Dean of Research at Kaziranga University. He served as Associate Dean(Compliance) from 2016 to 2019. Dr. Saha obtained PhD from National Institute of Technology, Durgapur in 2016. His title of thesis was “QoS and Mobility Management in WiMAX and other Next Generation Network”. He obtained Masters in Engineering (ME) with major in Information Technology from West Bengal university of Technology in 2007. He achieved first class second place in ME and was presented with a silver medallion by the Governor of West Bengal for achieving second place overall in the order of merit. He later earned a master's degree in computer application from Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology in Sikkim, India. In 2001, he earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) with a major in Physics from Calcutta University in Kolkata, India.

He started his career as project trainee in the field of GIS and Remote Sensing at Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) for 6 months in 2004. He then joined as lecturer in the department of computer application, Narula Institute of Technology, Kolkata, India in August 2004. He worked at Narula Institute of Technology, Kolkata for 12 years in the capacity of Lecturer, Senior lecturer and Assistant professor.

He published 40 papers in refereed international and national journals and conferences of repute. Total citation count of all his papers are 85 till now and h-index: 5(source Google Scholar). He authored 2 books titled “GIS and Remote Sensing: Applications in Flood Damage assessment” and “Mobility Management in IP based Network: Framework, Issues and Challenges” published by Lap Lambert Academic Publishing, Germany. He received a total of 18 lakhs in research grants from several funding bodies such as AICTE, ASTEC, and Institute Innovation Council, to mention a few.

He was the President of the Institute Innovation Council at Kaziranga University, and under his guidance, Kaziranga ascended to the top spot in the north east region in terms of innovation culture and activities in 2020.

He was coordinator of KU-IBM joint BTech program in Kaziranga University.

He was one of the member of the core team in organizing successfully IEEE sponsored 1st International Conference on Communication and Industrial Application(ICCIA-2011) on 26th-28th December 2011 at Kolkata. He also steered some of the big event like International Workshop on Mobile System (WoMS 2008), ICCSE2014 etc. For his relentless and sincere effort, he got the appreciation award from the Narula Institute of Technology for outstanding sincerity in teaching and research in 2011 and 2016.

His other accomplishments are:

  • Participated in 14 AICTE/UGC sponsored (two week’s or more duration) short term courses in the field of teaching and research methodologies in computer science and engineering.

  • SPoC(Single point of contact) of Narula Institute of Technology in Infosys Campus Connect program from august 2013 to 2016. Successfully rolled out 5 batches( 350 students).

  • Liaises with Asian Institute of Technology (Bangkok) on behalf of Kaziranga University, Assam to built academic tie up and sign MOU.

  • Liaised with Asian Institute of Technology (Bangkok) on behalf of JIS Group, Kolkata to built academic tie up and sign MOU.

  • Management of information and general administrative issues and practices for TEQIP, NBA, NAAC, NIRF assessment by World Bank, AICTE, UGC and MHRD respectively.

  • Presentation of reports for management as and when required.

  • Managing operating budget, performance analysis and reporting to support decision making.

  • Provide expert guidance and leadership to students

  • Presented papers in 18 national/international conferences and seminars.

  • He is the member of IEEE Communication Society, member of ACM, global member of ISoC-Internet Society.
